Being nineteen years old, I often wonder what my Prince Charming will look like, where we will meet, how he talks, what his relationship with God is like…I can go on and on about thinking about him. I have been praying for my future husband for a little bit, on and off, but it was more of a “God, can you hurry and send him my way? Thanks!” kind of a prayer, verses what I should really be praying about for my future husband.
At the end of my pinning session, I wondered, “What does God really want me to do for my future husband, while I am still single?” I probably could have answered things like: Learn to bake better, clean the house more often, take care of my baby brother…all of which answers are great, but are they?
I decided to offer to review the book, Praying for My Future Husband, and I was quickly mailed the book!
Once I received the book in the mail, I began to read. Honestly, I was expecting to learn the “secret” to praying for my future husband, meaning to speed the waiting process, but after I read a little more, I realized it wasn’t like that at all! In fact, it taught me how to pray for my future husband as a person! As a human being.
Each chapter touched on a certain subject that every Christian faces, such as: heart, mind, strength, courage, contentment, etc. Every chapter I read, I was being talked to, encouraged, and was even given hope. I was able to read testimonies of several women, who prayed for their future husbands. Those who had no hope, prayed, and became a wife.
I was encouraged to pray for my future husband’s day. For his work. His heart and struggles. Give praise to God for being in the life of my Prince Charming. I was encouraged to pray for my future husband’s family. For health and happiness. Their situations and struggles, and give praise to God for being with them.
Honestly, after beginning to really pray, I felt a connection to God I never have really felt before…and then I read about how praying for a future spouse is like forming a triangle. God is at the top and the future spouses are on the bottom. By praying to God, it not only connects us to Him, but it also is connecting us to our future partner. My Prince Charming.
I loved how at the end of every chapter there were study questions. You began to really see yourself. There were prayer points for you to pray for your future husband. There were written out prayers, in case you didn’t know how to word your own. There are also a bunch of scripture references and a journal section, too. Perfect for any girl!
The authors of this book are Robin Jones Gunn and Tricia Goyer, and you know what? It is the first time I have ever heard of them! After reading this book, I have fallen in love with their work…and their heart.
This book is close to the very top of my list for teen girls to read, because I really want EVERY girl to read it!!! I really, really do, because it is so beneficial for all relationships! I know what goes through the minds of teen girls, especially those close to dating/marrying age. I am positive that once they read this book, like me, they will see that they can be apart of their future husband’s life, without even knowing him.
Were you a prayer warrior for your future spouse!
