Being a professional photographer was one of the many dreams I had while growing up. I loved everything about photography and spent a lot of my time learning and perfecting my skill with my mom’s DSLR camera (and eventually my own)! I would then take those images I captured and tried to think of great ways of making photo gifts with them.
I remember my love of photography was spurred when my parents bought their first digital camera. I could take as many pictures as I wanted and delete them as I go, unlike with film. I was able to experiment with lighting, rules of thirds, and more. I became so enthralled with photography that my mom ended up buying another camera and gave me her old one. I’d read book after book from the library and was always drawn to gorgeous pictures captured by professional photographers.
I would take my camera everywhere. I’d take pictures of flowers, children playing ball, or trees. Pretty much anything I could use my camera to take a picture.
Unfortunately, I don’t think that being a professional photographer is something I will ever do, but I’ll be a good momtographer when I have children. They’ll probably moan every time I pull out my camera, but at least I’ll get some good pictures to put on the wall.
Gifts to make with your photographs:
Memory book – I made my first memory book when I first started getting into photography. I loved my book when it arrived at my front door. Honestly, you could make a memory book personal, with a story, or just a portfolio with a handful of breathtaking images on each smooth page. No matter how dressed up the book is, the person who receives it will be in heaven. It is a gift that you can open again and again.
Coasters – There are many different ways of making coasters. You can take the printed 4×6 images you have stored somewhere in your home and put them in a glass coaster from the store or you can custom make one with mod podge, or you can even order custom made ones online.
Calendar – I bought my mom a calendar for her birthday a couple of years ago, and she has never allowed me to buy her anything else, she loves it that much. Each time it has brought tears to her eyes, which makes me feel extremely happy! It is a year-long gift.
Mug – My grandma drinks coffee every morning. I can only image how she will be if I bought her a personalized mug with images of her grandchildren on it…
Puzzle – This would be for the grandparents, or anyone else in your life that loves doing puzzles. I just know my grandparents love puzzles. They love building them together during the weekends, whenever one is pulled out.
iPhone Case – Most everyone has a cell phone now-a-days. I don’t have an iPhone, but if I did, I’d want a personalized one…or one that just represents who I am.
Mouse Pad – I bought a mouse pad for my mom last year, I believe. I knew she spent a good amount of time on the computer, since she had to run her business and blog, so I thought a little something would be nice to make her smile each and every day, and a mouse pad is all I could think of that I could really afford at that time.
Notebook – Everyone needs a notebook. Whether it is to jot down notes, reminders, or just to write in. It would be fun to have a personalize notebook, don’t you think?
