The one thing that I looked forward to about my graduation, other than the actual ceremony, was my graduation party. I’m not a crazy party person, but graduation is a BIG deal and I wanted to celebrate those twelve long years I went through of education. Plus, I couldn’t wait to have all my best friends and my closest family over at my house to celebrate with me.
You may be wondering how “I” know how you feel…well, it is because I helped put the whole thing together. I am self-motivated, and overly so when I’m excited about something. I absolutely loved planning my graduation party, sending out invitations, and creating the lovely meals and desserts.
Don’t get me wrong…my party was not over the top, but it was a sweet celebration party that I took pride in.
I had a blast with my friends and family. We had volleyball set up in our front yard, horseshoe in the side yard, and we played and played…and played. We had people gathering outside in the garage, people inside, people outside. It was a whole bunch of fun and I couldn’t have prayed for a better day!
The invitations were probably one of my favorite things to do, although I did send them out with my graduation cards, but oh well…
Graduation Party Ideas
Snacks & Desserts – I loved this part of planning my graduation party. I wanted my snacks and desserts scream graduation, so I took a trip to Pinterest and found exactly what I was looking for and then I went shopping at the grocery store.

Decorations – There is nothing I love better than having everything put together, and with a party…I mean the decorations. I love doing a lot of DIY decor, but sometimes it is cheaper (and faster) to just buy the decorations at the store. I didn’t learn my lesson at my graduation party and did a lot of the decor myself and with the help of my mom and grandma. It took a while, but it was so much fun and I love looking back and seeing all the things I created. Here are some super fun ideas for you to try that won’t take long and will look so cute!
Memory Ideas – Call me an old soul, but I just love being able to look back to special events and remember all the wonderful memories. At my graduation party, I just had people sign their wishes, wisdom, and encouragement to me in a notebook. I would have loved to have put together a words of wisdom box (below) and read through their writings as often as I want or play a game of Jenga full of my guests’ handwriting. I wanted to make sure you didn’t miss out of these awesome ideas, so I made sure to link to them all for you.
Games – When I hear party, I think games. Maybe it is just the way I was raised, but when we had a party, we always played games like: volleyball, horseshoes, basketball, and maybe even football. My favorite sport is volleyball, so I was so blessed to be able to play that on my graduation party with some of my closest friends. Games don’t have to be physical, so horseshoes or ladderball are some really great options!
I hope that your graduates big day and party are as big of a hit as mine was and the memories stay with them forever!
