“A family that reads together, stays together.”
As a child, I remember so many weekends, or evenings after dinner that my family and I would all gather together to listen to a book read to us. We would read a Lamplighter book together, or another chapter book. On occasions, we would have a picture book read to us, too.
We don’t read together as often as we used to, but at certain times of the year, we usually do, such as Christmas.
When you read together as a family, it does something more to relationships. You connect with each other in different ways as you read and/or listen to the story being read. It is a topic that we can talk about together as a family, or individual.
I know that not all families have time to sit down and read for 30 minutes together, but any time you set aside for reading can do a lot for each member of the family…

Audio Books for the Christian family:
If you have young children, playing on the floor, or on your lap with something quiet can usually keep them content for the time of reading. It may take a little training, but too much.
With children a little older, you can let them color quietly on the floor, until you are finished reading.I will receive commission on any sales made on my blog. To learn more, read my disclosure policy.
